Design Challenge:

Working as a team of 12 creatives, 12 journalists and two professors, create a magazine  that appeals to not only Columbia College students but to residents around the South Loop of Chicago. Define theme, articles, size, color pallets, grids, wayfinding, and over all aesthetic of the collection of works.

Solution:

Using the theme: Home, as our springboard we rationalized the choices made by connecting back to our overarching theme. while articles were written we started laying out our own foundations. Taking color pallets from interior design trends, constructing wayfinding in a contemporary architectural sort of way. We deconstructed typefaces for diversity and sturdiness. After building layouts within the constructs defined, each article gained its own personality while keeping cohesive to the theme.
