Black Book Issue #1 - Layout Design
Design Challenge:
Graffiti is an underappreciated art form that has a growing history. This magazine is designed to be the foundation of a bi-annual magazine that expresses historical significance, growing known artists and cultural ramifications.
Solution:
The tone of this magazine had to be encompassing. There are so many artists out their ready to share their stories and express their artwork. It is common practice for graffiti artist to keep a collection of their work/concepts in a black bound book. It is befitting for this magazine to be called black book because it draws a parallel to this practice while sharing the culture. The layouts are design to display each artist(s) work at its best using a high contrasting color pallet of only black and white. Articles were selected, edited and written to tell these stories.
